Tanveer Ilyas new president of PTI AJK

ISLAMABAD   -  Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has replaced Barrister Sultan Mahmood as the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of its Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) chapter. Sardar Ilyas will head the ruling party in AJK as party’s Governing Body in the region is being reconstituted in view of the recent elections of AJK Legislative Assembly, according to a notification issued by the Chief Organizer PTI Senator Saifullah Khan Nyazee.

PTI has formed the new government in AJK after it won the majority seats as a result of 25 July election of the Legislative Assembly of AJK. Ilyas, a known businessman, was the candidate of prime minister of AJK but his name was dropped due to internal differences within the ruling party over the nomination of this coveted position.   An office bearer of PTI’s Central Secretariat said that Ilyas has been nominated as president as his successor Barrister Sultan Mahmood was elected the President of AJK. According to the notification of the reconstituted Governing Body, Ch Zafar Anwar has been appointed senior vice president of PTI’s AJK chapter, Ch Azhar Sadiq and Mir Atiqur Rehman as vice presidents and Raja Mansoor Khan as secretary general of the PTI.  

In addition to that, Amir Nazir has been appointed as additional secretary general of PTI, while Sardar Qazi Israel, Sikandar Baig, Sardar Murtaza Tahir, Chaudhry Maqbool and Saleem Butt as deputy secretary generals of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Poonch, Jammu and Valley divisions respectively. 

Zulfiqar Abbasi has been appointed as Finance Secretary and Sardar Ershad Mehmood will work as information secretary of PTI in AJK, according to the notification.
