All Pakistan Tech and Art Festival finishes

LAHORE - The GCU Computer Science Department-arranged All Pakistan Tech and Art Festival 2014 concluded on Friday.
GCU VC Prof Dr Khaleequr Rahman was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, while Department of Computer Science Chairperson Dr Saleem Khan, faculty members and a large number of students from different universities were also present there.
According to details, as many as 400 students from 40 educational institutions including University of Engineering and Technology, FAST, Punjab University, Kinnaird College, UCP and UMT participated in the eighteen competitions. The most thrilling event of the festival was Coding Geek (junior/senior) that was won by Punjab University’s Codebots and Sheheen teams.
The E-gamming was the most participated event which was won by the teams of PUCIT, GCU and UET in different categories. Javed Iqbal from COMSATS stood first in Concept Art Design, while Komal from Lahore College for Women University grabbed first position in Typography competition. Structure Design and Scavenger Hunt were won by the teams of NCA and GCU respectively. Laeeque Ahmed won Essay Writing (English), while Afaz Warsi stood first in Urdu Essay Writing. In Article Writing (English), Asmat Ullah, while in Article Writing (Urdu) Huma Hafeez won the competitions.
Prof Rahman said science, literature and arts were equally important for the progress and such co-curricular activities provided a platform to students to socialise and share their experiences and ideas.
The Vice Chancellor called upon the students to prepare themselves to meet the future challenges. “To achieve your goals, you should update yourself updated about latest technologies and happenings in the world,” he advised.
