Timergara - Workers of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI-F) Lower Dir on Monday staged a protest rally in front of the office of the District Police Officer (DPO) and demanded immediate arrest of the PTI workers allegedly involved in attack on a masjid and madrassa being run under the banner of JUI-F at Qazi Plaza Timergara near Gurgori Chowk.
The protesters also chanted slogans against police for not registering the FIR against those allegedly involved in attack on masjid and torturing students of the seminary. To express their sentiments against the ouster of Imran Khan from the office of Prime Minister, the PTI supporters on Sunday night attacked Qazi Plaza masjid in Timergara and damaged the masjid. They also allegedly tortured students at the seminary as a result of which four students were injured.
JUI-F district amir and others urged the DPO to immediately lodge FIR against those involved in masjid attack and arrest them as soon as possible.
However, the local PTI leadership and MPs have strongly denied their involvement in the incident and termed the allegations levelled against them by JUI-F leadership as baseless and unwarranted.
