The other day, I was reading in the newspapers that fuel saving equipments for the motor vehicles have not only been innovated but are also being marketed in some cities of Pakistan including Lahore and Islamabad. The news said that the equipment, based on a Japanese innovation and developed on the basis of latest technological advancements, gives as much as 25 per cent saving in the fuel consumption with more power to the vehicles. In the prevailing circumstances, when the country is facing Petrol and CNG shortages for quite sometime and the prices of POL products are hiked almost every month, this is very welcome and happy development which all motorists like me should appreciate. Even if the fuel saving equipment gives somewhat less saving than 25 percent as claimed by the foreign manufacturers and its suppliers in Pakistan, this should be given a try with an open and positive mind. Such innovative developments and technological advancements should be duly encouraged by all people in general and the motorists in particular as this would ultimately help in effecting an appreciable saving on day to day fuel cost for everyone. What is more important is that this would minimise the worries of the people to a great extent on account of POL products prices being increased by the federal government almost every month for the reasons better known to the official quarters concerned.
