‘Ghazal Hum Ne Chehri’ …..

LAHORE (CITY DESK) – A local television network and a hotel chain successfully organized a tribute ‘Ghazal Hum ne chehri’. Prolific singers like Ameer Ali, Sara Raza, Ali Abbas, Humera Channa and Ghulam Abbas, showed their skills on famous ghazals of Ustad Amanat Ali, Iqbal Bano, Ghulam Ali, Farida Khanam, Mehdi Hasan.
 The evening started off with Amir Ali singing Amanat Ali’s famous ghazal “Houton pe abhi unkay mera nam bhi aaey”. After that, “Arzo thi kabhi gul k rubaru” and “Dil mae methay methay dard k phol khilay” were presented. Sara Raza won over the audience by singing “Ulfat ke nai manzil ko chala”, “Daag-e-dil hum ko yaad aney lagay” and “Dhast-e-Tanhai”. Ali Abbas garnered appreciation from the audience with his rendition of “Chupkay chupkay rath din ansoo bahana yasd hai”. He performed “Dil mai ek lehar se uthe hai abhi,’ ‘Yeh dil yeh pagal dil mera’ and a duet with Sara Raza “Dyare dil ki rah mai charagh sa jala gaya”. Humera Channa sang “Jo ishq hum se rooth gaya”, and “Wo mujhse hoey hum kalam’.

 She also sang a duet “Piya na he aaey, aaey sukhe” with Ameer Ali and another one, “Ap ko bhool jaien hum’ with Ghulam Abbas. Ghulam Abbas’s solo songs included Mehdi Hasan’s famous ghazals “Baat karni mujhay mushkil kabhi aise to na thi”, “Mohabbat karney walay kam na hongeay”, and “Ranjish he sahi dil hi dukhanay k liye aa”. The evening ended on a high note giving the audience something to recall for the coming time.
