Ogra, CNG Association talks remain inconclusive

ISLAMABAD - Talks between Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and CNG Association on Tuesday remained inconclusive as both sides once again failed to reach an agreement over the future prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the country.Following the instructions of Supreme Court to consult all stakeholders before determining the future prices of CNG, Ogra held negotiations with the representatives of All Pakistan CNG Association in Islamabad over the cost of gas but the meeting bore no fruit in reaching an understanding on the prices of CNG as both sides could not strike a consensus on the prices of the commodity. However, the next round of talks between the stakeholders would be held on December 13th. Ogra spokesman when contacted said this consultation meeting was held following the instructions of the apex court. It was not a final round of talk over CNG pricing as next meeting is scheduled within a couple of days where high-ups of the Ministry of Petroleum, SNGPL, SSGCL and CNG Association would sit together.Chairman of the CNG Association Supreme Council, Ghayas Paracha earlier said they would not accept any decision if it was made without taking them into confidence. He said the CNG Association did not agree with the Petroleum Ministry summary that sought linking CNG price with petrol price by fixing it at the 80 per cent of the petrol price.
