LAHORE - An anti-terrorism court in Sahiwal on Monday acquitted Nawa-i-Waqt Okara correspondent Hafiz Hussnain and Anjuman-i-Mazareen General Secretary Mehr Abdus Sattar in two cases registered against them on different charges.
ATC Judge Malik Shabbir Hussain Awan announced the verdict after the prosecution failed to establish the cases against Hussnain and Sattar.
Hussnain and Sattar were booked in two cases under FIR 813/16 and FIR 827/2016. Sattar was also nominated in another case, FIR 682/2016. The court exonerated Hussnain in two cases and Sattar in three cases.
Hussanin was accused of extortion and land grab, while Sattar was accused of keeping foreign currency. Both had been in jail for two years but the prosecution failed to establish cases against them. Hussain is facing another case, which will be heard by the ATCH next week.
