Aliya powers Blasters to win in One-Day Women’s Cricket

LAHORE - Phenomenal all-round performance by Aliya Riaz powered PCB Blasters to 8-run victory over PCB Dynamites in the Triangular One-Day Women’s Cricket Championship 2018 match played at SBP Sports Complex, Karachi on Tuesday.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman, PCB Dynamites won the toss and opted to field first. PCB Blasters were off to flying start and succeeded in posting 181 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Aliya Riaz batted with authority and hammered unbeaten 77 runs of 154 balls with the help of six boundaries and one six. She was ably assisted by Irum Javed who played 107 balls to strike 59 runs studded with three fours and two towering sixes. Maham Tariq clinched 3 wickets for 21 and Natalia Pervaiz claimed two wickets for 28.

Chasing the decent target of 182 runs, PCB Dynamites couldn’t resist powerful bowling by Aliya Riaz, who was the main wrecker-in-chief of Dynamites batting line up, as she grabbed four wickets for 27 runs while Naila Nazir also bowled well and bagged two wickets for 17 runs. Dynamites were all out for 173 in 49.1 overs with only Hafsa Amjad (40) and Natalia Parvez (32) showing some resistance to impressive bowling of Aliya and Naila. For her brilliant all-round performance, Aliya was named player of the match. Nazir Butt and Saleema Imtiaz officiated the match as field umpires while Muhammad Javed performed the duty of match referee and Haseeb Ullah Khan as official scorer.
