Hoti gives assent to Kohistan division



PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has formally approved the division of Kohistan into two districts, however final notification in this connection will be issued after fulfilling entire legal demands and completion of census process under way across the country.
He was talking to a representative delegation of Kohistan under ANP MPA Engr Sajad Ullah Khan on Monday. Mian Iftekhar Hussain, ANP Provincial GS Arbab Tahir and Special Assistant to CM Syed Masom were also present on the occasion.
The CM said that administrative structure of the province keeps on changing with time and needs after British era and existence of Pakistan and the demand for division of Kohistan into two districts was just in lieu of problems and difficulties confronting the people and area and administrative needs.
He said that currently population census process was under way across the country, adding that in the meantime any change in administrative limits of any district or division was not legally possible. He, however, principally approved the demand and issued directives to district administration for ensuring their presence every month in Pattan alongside Dasu until issuance of final notification in this connection.
He said that the present government was complying to provision of basic life needs to people at their doorstep in backward and far flung areas and that was the reason why after establishment of district Tanawel, division of Chitral in two districts was also principally approved.
He said that the present government has undertaken practical measures for bringing Kohistan akin to other district from development perspective during the past five years. He said that success of ANP candidate from the area for the first time has stamped trust on government and party policies and he was thankful to them. Members of the delegation thanked the CM on principal approval to division of Kohistan into Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan.
