Chief Secretary Punjab visits Murree

RAWALPINDI - Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal paid a visit to calamity-hit Murree on Tuesday and reviewed the process of removing snow from roads and easing traffic flow. 

He visited Lower Topa, Jheeka Gali, Kuldana Road and other areas where Tehsil Municipal Administration Murree, Punjab Highway Department, City Traffic and local police are engaged in cleaning roads from snow and regulating traffic rush.

Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal was received by Deputy Commission Muhammad Ali, Regional Police Officer Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, City Police Officer Sajid Kiani, Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan and other officers of various departments. Kamran Ali Afzal, while speaking on the occasion, said all vehicle lifting machines should be moved to choking points before snowfall. He advised the police to erect three checkposts at entry point of Murree and bar the entry of extra vehicles while keeping in view weather conditions.

Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal directed all the police officers and officers of district government to stay in Murree to review the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, Murre police held a man namely Saqib Abbasi for his alleged involvement in spreading snow on roads to trap the vehicles of tourists and minting money from them against offering help. 

A case has also been registered against the accused while the jeep he was using in crime also recovered by the investigators.
