Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini met Federal Minister for Energy Muhammad Hammad Azhar on Monday.

Matters relating to cooperation between the two countries in the Energy Sector were discussed during the meeting.

Hammad Azhar while highlighting the importance of Iranian electricity import to the neighboring districts of Balochistan especially Gawadar, said it was playing a pivotal role in the provision of electricity to this area.

He also expressed the commitment to further strengthen cooperation between both countries in the energy sector as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the recent visit of the Pakistani Prime Minister to Iran.

The Iranian Ambassador briefed the minister that the Iranian side was ready to supply more electricity to Pakistan and necessary infrastructure has already been built by the country.

He also informed that close coordination between the relevant organizations dealing with the import of electricity is needed for the early materialization of the project.
