ISLAMABAD - The government has allocated Rs 1000 million for the stalled project of Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Morr to the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA).
The project started years ago for the convenience of the people could not be executed in time due to multiple reasons including financial constraints and administrative issues. Now, according to the budget documents, the government has allocated Rs 1000m for balance work for operationalization of the Bus Service from Peshawar morr to New Islamabad International Airport. 
Few months back, as per decision of the federal cabinet and instructions from the interior ministry, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to take over the stalled project from the National Highway Authority (NHA). However, the NHA will be providing an input to the civic agency. The CDA was given the lead role as the government has decided to complete the project by the end of the current year. The cabinet has already approved the formation of the Capital Mass Transit Authority (CMTA) to run the Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Morr (G-9) to the New Islamabad International Airport.
In May 2017, the then government had inaugurated the construction of the metro bus route to connect the federal capital with the new airport near Fatehjang. It was announced that the construction of the 25.6-km-long track from Peshawar Morr to the airport will be completed before Independence Day 2018. 
However, the project worth Rs18 billion could not be completed even after almost four years.
Furthermore, the government has earmarked Rs3154 million for land acquisition for conduction of water from Indus water system at Tarbela Dam to the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad including RCB and CCB (Phase-I).
