Man ends life, woman killed for honour in Sargodha

SARGODHA  -  A woman was axed to death allegedly by her brother for honour in the jurisdiction of Mitha Tiwana police station. 

Police said on Tuesday that Umer Daraz of Jabbi Sharif village had suspicion that his married sister Munawara Bibi (32) had illicit relations with his friend. After the altercation over the issue, Umer Daraz injured his sister by hitting axes.

The injured was shifted to the THQ hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. She was the mother of two 

children. On the report of father, police have registered a case against the accused. In another incident, a man committed suicide over domestic issues in the precincts of Krana Police station here on Tuesday. 

Police said that Asif Maseeh, 35, resident of Chak 84-SB had an altercation with his family members. In a fit of rage, he swallowed poisonous pills. He was shifted to hospital in serious condition where he breathed his last. Police handed over the body to the heirs after completing legal-medico formalities.

10 shopkeepers arrested, 25 shops sealed

The district administration arrested 10 shopkeepers and sealed 25 shops for violating lockdown here on Tuesday. 

According to official sources, Sargodha Assistant Commissioner Umer Daraz Gondal along with police and other officials visited bazaars and markets and sealed more than 25 shops and arrested 10 shopkeepers for violating corona related SOPs.

Meanwhile, six butchers were also arrested for selling meat at exorbitant prices. Talking on the occasion, the AC said that implementation of corona related SOPs would be ensured at every cost and stern action would be taken against the violators without any discrimination.
