NCOC approves deploying sniffer dogs team at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD - The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) approved deploying sniffer dogs team at Islamabad airport to detect novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in passengers.
Officials said that the approval has been given on experimental basis and will be effective from today.
The notification issued by the NCOC said that during the session held on 03 May 2021, deployment of sniffer dogs to detect COVID-19 positive patients has been approved. The ACC dog team is required to be deployed at Islamabad airport with effect from 12 May 2021.
It said that Islamabad airport may be instructed to provide necessary administrative support with effect from May 12, 2021.
It also added that ASF may be instructed for passenger handling/assistance to ACC.
It also decided to provide 4× health staff (2× health staff for each shift) to ACC Dog Team for sample collection at Islamabad airport.
