NPT pays tribute to Ghulam Haider Wyne

LAHORE - NPT's Chairman Majid Nizami has said that had there been people like Ghulam Haider Wyne in Pakistan, our present and future is bright and secured. He was addressing the participants of the 15th death anniversary of former Punjab chief minister Ghulam Haider Wyne that was organised by the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust along with Tehrik-e-Pakistan Workers Trust here at the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Saturday He said he usually saw him resting on simple cot during his leisure time. He commemorated that while going back to his native town he used to call on him. He said the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan was his gift to workers who not only conferred us Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust but also Bab-e-Pakistan. He provided over 40 kanal land to the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust near Johar Town. He was remembered as Sir Syed Ahmad Khan of Mian Channu who visited even England for the collection of donation for schools but never built his own house and her wife is still living in her sister's home. He said that he led a simple and honourable life in a dilapidated house in the ghettos of Mian Channu. He never plundered national wealth like other politicians. Once he presented few copies of daily Nawa-i-Waqt which were kept in an old iron box and said he had carried these copies from Amritsar while migrating to Pakistan. He said Multan had given us many politicians like present Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, two former Punjab Chief Ministers Mian Mumtaz Daultana and Sadiq Hussain Qureshi and one down to earth former Punjab Chief Minister Ghulam Haider Wyne who was bestowed by Allah. Begum Majeeda Wyne said on the one hand the martyrdom of his husband was making her gloomy and depressed, while on the other hand his glowing character is providing her satisfaction and happiness. She also paid growing tribute to NPT's Chairman Majid Nizami over holding death anniversary of Ghulam Haider Wyne in a befitting manner. She showed her concern over not arresting the assassins of former Punjab Chief Minister who served downtrodden people of Punjab. Former federal minister Ghulam Dastagir said currently country is facing severe challenges and direly needed enthusiastic people like Haider Wyne who could steer the country out of crises. He suggested that Pakistan Muslim League should also celebrate death anniversary of Ghulam Haider Wyne as only the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust has celebrated as usual. He was of the view that after the silent revolution of February 18, 2008, it would be a regretful if leaders could not deliver to downtrodden masses. Prof Dr Rafiq Ahmad said former Ghulam Haider Wyne was admirer of talented youths and wanted to see them playing their vital and important role in the affairs of the state. He said Wyne had set many examples for the betterment of education in the country. In this regard he had established the Punjab Education Foundation institution and allocated plentiful amount of Rs500 million. He also paid tribute to his wife Begum Majeeda Wyne who is endeavouring hard to continue her husband's mission. Begum Mehnaz Rafi said with his unique politics, former Ghulam Haider Wyne had set example for other politicians. She claimed after Quaid-i-Azam, he was the single soul who worked hard to discipline Muslim League on modern ways. Prof Muzaffar Mirza said Ghulam Haider Wyne was a mobile encyclopaedia of Muslim League who set up over 18 educational institutions in a small city Mian Channu which could be given the status of a university. Mohammad Aslam Zar Advocate said Muslim League could not find a hard worker like former Punjab Chief Minister Ghulam Haider Wyne who wished to see his party strong and united. He claimed he always behaved well with party's workers that is why even today these workers remembered him with glorious name. Rana Ikramul Haq, a fast friend of Ghulam Haider Wyne said he was basically a political worker who was ultimately chosen for Chief Minister of Punjab slot. Secretary NPT Shahid Rasheed said people of the province are commemorating former Punjab Chief Minister Ghulam Haider Wyne when there are bomb explosions everywhere in the country. He was a gospel and down to earth politician who had devoted his life for the welfare of the nation.
