KARACHI – The administration of the Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET) Karachi on Thursday closed down the college till further order after the manhandling of the college dean by the activists of a students’ political group. “The Dean of Faculty of Engineering Rashid Baig was beaten by some activists of a students’ political group in the academic timing of the college. The activists wanted the dean to allow them to hold Dars-e-Quran in Evening, they were not allowed to do so; the frustration forced them to attack on the dean and vandalise in the dean office,” an official of the college told TheNation. The dean was seriously injured in that course of action, however the dean was taken to a private hospital for medical treatment, he added SMIU Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Shaikh said that the college administration has decided to take strict action against the culprits after their identification.
