RAWALPINDI - Fountain installed in Fawara Chowk is on the way to extinction owing to intensified wear and tear, and lack of cleanliness arrangements.
This fawara (fountain) stands at the confluence of main markets including City Sadar Road, Kashmiri Bazaar, Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road, Raja Bazaar and Ganj Mandi. All the roads leading to mega markets coincide at this point.
But this historical place has turned into heap of garbage for want of cleanliness arrangements by TMA Rawal Town and the City District Government. The fountain is no more in working condition wearing gloomy look.
But the concerned quarters are showing a criminal negligence towards ensuring any repair work of the fountain.
Drug addicts have emerged as the major beneficiaries of the dilapidated fountain as they have found a way to fountain core and are seen sitting there with puffing cigarette and taking heroin, polluting the environment. 
The citizens demanded immediate repair and cleanliness arrangement to save this heritage.
