RAWALPINDI - Panic prevailed for some time at the Benazir Bhutto International Islamabad Airport (BBIIAP) on Thursday after a minor blast occurred during the defusing process of an unattended bag at a parking lot by the Pakistan Army Bomb Disposal Squad.
However, there was no explosive material in the bag rather bottles of shampoo and a shaving kit have been recovered by the airport management.
According to sources, the airport security force was informed about the presence of an unattended bag placed at the parking lot by some passengers. Taking action the bomb disposal squad of Army was called out.
A small explosion occurred when the bomb disposal squad activated its special kit to defuse any possible explosion material in the bag, which made the passengers break into panic as they mistook it for a bomb. Nonetheless, some bottles of shampoo and shaving kit were found from the bag upon searching by the bomb disposal squad, the sources added.
