National Assembly on Friday approved PML-N resolutions on constituting an all parties commission for contacting estranged Baloch leadership and monthly review of petroleum prices.
The National Assembly resumed its session on Friday with Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi in the chair.
The National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution calling upon the federal government to constitute an All Parties Commission with the mandate to contact all the estranged Baloch leaders.
The resolution moved by PML-N leader Zahid Hamid said the commission should comprise of members of all the political parties including those who have no representation in the Parliament.
The resolution said the Commission shall establish lines of contacts with the estranged Baloch leaders and convey desire of the House for political reconciliation in Balochistan. It noted that this move will help improve overall law and order situation in the province.
The resolution said the commission shall submit its report within one month.
The House also unanimously passed another resolution moved by PML-N calling upon the government to review the prices of petroleum products on monthly basis.
The resolution moved by Zahid Hamid said the weekly review of the prices is adversely affecting the economy as well as the common man. The resolution also called upon the government to review the petroleum levy.
Speaking in National Assembly‚ Leader of the Opposition Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said the All Parties Commission will supplement the efforts of the Parliamentary Committee already working for the resolution of problems faced by Balochistan.
He said the commission should comprise of members belonging to all parties including Jamaat-e-Islami‚ Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf and Baloch leaders.
About the prices of Petroleum Products‚ Ch. Nisar Khan opposed weekly review of the prices saying it is destabilizing the economy as well as making the lives of common man miserable. He said the prices should be reviewed on monthly basis in order to give some relief to the people.
The House adjourned to meet on Monday at five pm.
