Political killings go unabated

KARACHI – An activist of the JI and a cop were gunned down among four people in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis on Thursday. A cop was shot dead in Kunwari Colony within the remits of Peerabad police station. Police officials said that the victim namely Shahjahan, 45, a resident of the same area was going somewhere from his residence when some unidentified assailants shot him multiple times and managed to flee. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family.Two others including a worker of Jamaat-e-Islami were gunned down in North Naizamabad within the jurisdiction of Shahra-e-Noor Jahan Police.Police officials said that victims Abdul Rauf, 40, and Muhammad Ameer, 25, were standing at a street corner when two armed men riding a motorbike came close to them and sprayed bullets. Resultantly they received multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to hospital. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their heirs after medicolegal formalities at the ASH. Police suspected personal dispute the motive behind the killing.A young man was gunned down at Alana Road within the precincts of Baghdadi police station.Police officials said that victim Faizan, 25, was going somewhere when some unidentified culprits riding a motorbike stopped him and opened fire. He succumbed to injuries on the way to Civil Hospital. The body was handed over to his family after autopsy. The motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.
