Protest against killings in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – Following identification of the two bullet-riddled bodies, who had been found in the limits of Daudzai Police Station the other day, their relatives placed dead bodies on Sher Shah Soori Road and protested outside Peshawar Press Club on Thursday. The protestors said that a group of people riding official vehicles had picked three people including Ajmal Khan, son of Feroz Shah, Lal Rehman, son of Gul Rehman and Khushaal from Riaz Garhi Bakhshi Pul from a marriage party on Sunday who remained missing. They said that the local police were repeatedly contacted to get any clue as to where they had been shifted but the police avoided giving them any kind of information. “We saw the photos of the bodies in a newspaper on Thursday morning and identified that they are our relatives,” the protestors said and added that the third person Khushaal was still missing. They blamed the police and security agencies for picking and killing the people, saying that Ajmal was a rickshaw driver while Lal Rehman was a daily wager at Gur Mandi.
They said that the people had done nothing wrong and it was duty of the government to tell them the reason and arrest the killers. The protest also led to closure of the main road for about one hour, which caused immense traffic problems and hardships for the commuters.
