QUETTA - The Supreme Court on Thursday sought a detailed report on the Dera Bugti ‘Wani’ case and ordered that elders of the Jirga along with the girls be presented before it on November 19.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja was hearing the suo motu notice case of Jirga which was reportedly held in Bakar area of Dera Bugti.
Media had reported about the incident of ‘Wani’ in which Jirga allegedly led by Balochistan MPA Tariq Masoori had declared that 13 girls would be married under the custom to resolve a feud between two groups of the Masuri tribe.
The Court did not accept the request by the advocate general Balochistan to quash the case who, in his request, said there was no evidence available.
