Ulema urged to make drive against polio successful


LAHORE - District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Thursday has stated that the role of ulema in anti-polio campaign, starting from October 15, is necessary to make the three days campaign successful.
According to target set by the government more than 1.5 million under five years of age children would be vaccinated anti-polio drops in upcoming campaign.
He expressed these views while addressing the ulema of different sects pastors and representatives of UNICEF at Town Hall.
Mengal revealed that more than six thousand, employees would actively participate and would ensure the vaccination of polio drops in the remote and neglected parts of the City. He sated that a target of 1.5 million children for the polio drops had been set up and it would be achieved with the help of ulema and civil society.
The DCO urged upon ulema to create awareness among people about anti-polio campaign in their Jumma sermons and compelled people to vaccinate polio drops to their below 5 years age children.
Mengal stated that Phusto speaking students would also move with polio teams to create awareness about polio drops among the Phusto speaking community living in different parts of the City. In return, ulema also ensured their full cooperation in polio campaign and ensured that they would participate in campaign as volunteers.
Meanwhile, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Ahad Khan Cheema posted Rafid Ahmad Malhi (Ex-PCS/BS-18) as Director Estate Management (QAT), upon his joining Lahore Development Authority on deputation basis. 
Khawaja Javed Aslam has been relieved from the additional charge of the said post.  Iqbal Mazhar, Director Estate Management (QAT), LDA presently on Ex- Pakistan leave for Hajj, will report in Administration Directorate, LDA after the expiry of said leave.
