Top cop reviews mourners’ security plan

VEHARI-Police said that security arrangements have been made for 128 small and big processions and 311 congregations during Muharram.
District Police Officer Omer Saeed Malik issued directions to the officials after taking a detailed briefing on security plan for Muharram at his office.
DSP Imran Rasheed, DSP Head Quarter Mazhar Wattoo, DSP Legal Qadeer were also present. The police officials briefed the DPO about the security plan for Muharram in their respective tehsils with the help of maps and charts. The DPO was informed that a total of 128 processions would be taken out and 311 majalis would be held. A total of 28 trouble spots were identified in the routes of the processions to be taken out from different parts of the city.
The DPO directed the SHOs for live electronics coverage through drone and CCTV devices. As many as 1500 well equipped police officials, 550 volunteers, 71 police mobile vans, five DSPs, 20 inspectors, 85 sub inspectors, 100 ASIs, 42 lady constables, and 1,200 head constables are deployed for Muharram security in the district.
All the officials were directed to make security zones for Imambargahs and processions and adopt high security measures like frisking all the visitors. No edible and cold drinks be allowed to be distributed without strict checking, he directed.
He directed the participants to instantly register first information report against the violators. The participants were directed to review the arrangements and organic snap checking across the district with specials emphasis on motorcycles with fake or without numberplates.
