LAHORE - A total of 13 matches were played on the first day of the Sapphire Open National Tennis Championship 2021, that got underway on Monday here at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah.
According to Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) General Secretary Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), the opening ceremony of the event will be held at 4:30 pm today (Tuesday) at the Punjab Tennis Academy. “Top 16 men singles players are featuring in the group matches, which are divided into four groups.
The Group A consists of Aqeel Khan, Heera Ashiq, Ahmed Babar and Usman Rafiq, Group B comprises Muzamil Murtaza, Shahzad Khan, Ahmed Kamil and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Group C has Muhammad Abid, Yousaf Khalil, Imran Bhatti and Hassan Riaz and Group D includes Shoaib Khan, Mudassar Murtaza, Ijaz Khan and Abdullah Adnan.

In the U-18 first round, Nalain Abbas beat Hamza Rehmat 6-1, 6-1, Bilal Asim beat Kamran Khan 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, Kashan Tariq beat Hasnain Yousaf 6-2, 6-2, Faizan Fayaz beat Huzaima Abdul Rahman 6-2, 6-3 and Ahtesham Arif beat Farman Shakeel 7-5, 3-1 (retd).
