Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Media Coordinator Dr. Waseem Khawaja talking to The Nation said that more than 150 patients are admitted in COVID-19 ward and six are on ventilator.
He said that most of the patients ending up at hospitals are unvaccinated. He also said that the vaccination process continues in the hospital but non-implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions is increasing COVID-19 cases in the city.
Dr. Waseem further said that so far there is no shortage of COVID-19 beds or oxygen in the hospital but decrease in COVID-19 cases is also important to meet any emergency situation.
PIMS officials also said that hospitals are receiving patients from other parts of the country as well leading to the increasing load on hospital.
“If patients are kept in the concerned districts, the load on PIMS will reduce,” he said.
Dr. Waseem also said that re-infection cases are being reported among healthcare workers including doctors as well along with other people because they are exposed to the virus.
