Fugitive Nawaz to address anti-govt public rallies

Islamabad   -  Former Prime Minister and fugitive Nawaz Sharif would virtually join other Pakistan democratic Movement leaders in massive anti-government public rallies planned across Pakistan to press PTI government for early polls in 2022. Sources in PDM told The Nation that approximately 50 massive rallies are planned by March 2022 by a major Opposition alliance which would build up pressure on the government for early polls. PDM sources said complete schedule of  these public meetings is being worked out and expected to be finalized by next week. A grand convention of PDM is also being organised on 26th of next month in Islamabad which would pave the way for future anti-govt rallies by the Opposition. A top op source said PDM is also considering a proposal of Maulana Fazlur Rehman to boycott next general elections if elections conducted on electronic machines, however, a final decision would be taken by PDM leadership in the days to come. Sources said Opposition would not vote govt bill of elections reforms which include EVM system. Sources said Opposition has also decided to boycott the upcoming joint session of the Parliament scheduled for 13th September and would join a huge rally outside Parliament by journalists planned against proposed Pakistan Media Development Authority.

Sources said Maulana Fazlur Rehman will have to convince Mian Nawaz  Sharif and Mehmood Achakzai on this point.
