Lahore Garrison maintains lead in 2nd PGF Inter-Club Golf

LAHORE - Lahore Garrison Greens Club maintained their supremacy in the three-day Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) National Inter-Club Golf Championship, which proceeds into the final phase at the Karachi Golf Club Golf Course.
After two days of golf competition involving 20 member teams of Karachi Golf Club, Peshawar Golf Club and Lahore Garrison Greens Club, the team members of Lahore Garrison have combined tenaciously to uplift the cup winning chances of their team, which aggregate score at the conclusion of the second round is 10 strokes better than the nearest rivals Karachi Golf Club while Peshawar Golf Club is 79 strokes away and their chances of attaining a position look remote.
The aggregate team scores at the end of second round are Lahore Garrison 1604, Karachi Golf Club 1614 and Peshawar Golf Club 1683. For the Garrison team, their senior amateurs Col (r) Asif Mehdi, Col (R) M Shafi and Tariq Mehmood were outstanding and played forcefully enough to enhance the winning chances of their team.
An advantage-oriented contribution came through the performance of their ladies Zahida Durrani and Suneya Osama and to the utter surprise of many their girls, Bushra Fatima and Hadiya Osama stood the test of the Karachi Golf Course with maturity and conferred an advantage of 33 strokes to their team efforts. While Bushra and Fatima had aggregate scores of 174, their rivals of Karachi had aggregate scores of 207.The Garrison girls, all in their teens have to be eulogized for playing so impressively.
For Karachi team, their amateur category team members Hamza Shikoh Khan, Yashal Shah and Saim Shazli came up with rounds of excellence and gave their parent club a 10-stroke primacy over the amateur category group of Garrison consisting of Nouman Ilyas, Ahmed Kayani and Damil Ataullah, who played resolutely but found the Karachi boys a little more accomplished.
Most admirable was the shot making of Karachi amateurs from the tees and equally commendable were the other aspects of their game including putting on the greens and this is adequately reflected in their scores. Hamza had a round of 72, Yashal Shah played a superb 69 and Saim Shazli also managed a splendid 69.

Other Karachi team members who looked deft and skillful were their boys under 15 years and their boys under 18 years. What pushed the Karachi team to the second slot was fragility of their ladies and girls although hopefully one expects this situation to improve in the final round on Sunday.
