Elevation of BHC CJ proposed

ISLAMABAD - The Judicial Commission of Pakistan Tuesday recommended Qazi Faez Esa, Chief Justice Balochistan High Court (BHC), for the slot of judge of the Supreme Court, the sources told The Nation.
The seat in the SC became vacant after the retirement of former Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani in July. After the retirement of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry there has been no representation of the BHC judges in the apex court. The commission also suggested elevating senior judge of the BHC Ghulam Mustafa Mengal for the post of Chief Justice Balochistan High Court. It also proposed to give extension to seven additional judges of Sindh High Court and three additional judges of BHC.
The judicial commission was held in the chair of Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk in the Supreme Court, which was attended by the senior judges of the Supreme Court, representative Pakistan Bar Council and attorney general for Pakistan.
The seven additional judges of SHC recommended for extension include Justice Shaukat Ali Memon, Justice Shahnawaz Tariq, Justice Abdul Malick Gadi, Justice Nazir Malick, Justice Junaid Ghaffar, Justice Zafarullah Rajput and Justice Zafar Hassan Feroz. Three additional judges of BHC are Justice Shakil Ahmed Baloch, Justice Ejaz Ahmed Swati and Justice Muhammad Kamran Malaiki.
