3,400 containers disappeared, says Suddle

ISLAMABAD (INP) - Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Dr Shoaib Suddle has said that arms from 3,400 non-commercial containers had been unloaded in Pakistan. Talking to a private TV channel here on Monday, Dr Shoaib that more than 3,400 non-commercial containers, meant for Afghanistan, disappeared in Pakistan. He revealed that arms from these containers had been unloaded in Pakistan. He said that 3,400 non-commercial containers were not included in the 29,000 containers disappeared en route to Afghanistan. The investigation team learnt that these 3,400 containers did not cross the Pakistan border when the list of 29,000 containers was sent to Peshawar and Quetta Customs Collectorates. Dr Suddle said that the disappearance of 29,000 commercial containers has caused a loss of Rs one trillion to the national exchequer. It is worth mentioning here that on media reports regarding fraud of billions of rupees in the NATO and the Afghan Transit Trade containers case, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice and appointed Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Shoaib Suddle to investigate the case.
