LAHORE A blind professor on Monday has approached the Lahore High Court for provision of justice as he has become a rolling stone by Punjab Higher Education Department for not giving him the post of Assistant Professor despite the recommendation of PPSC. The Punjab Public Service Commission had recommended on May 17, 2011 the posting of Political Science Lecturer Umar Daraz Dogar, serving at Government Post Graduate College, Sheikhupura, along with 14 others as Assistant Professor (BS-18) against 2 per cent disabled quota. Meanwhile, the Deputy Director (Colleges) also issued joining letters to all 15 promoted lecturers; however, the department was not issuing only his posting orders as AP despite the two seats of political sciences were vacant at Sheikhupura College since 2005. Daraz submitted in his petition that the HED Secretary had illegally converted the tow vacant seats into commerce post from political science post on the pressure of local MNA, and appointed Mirza Mahid as assistant professor of commerce despite the fact that classes for commerce students were not being held in the college and there was not any plan to start the commerce classes in future. The petitioner pleaded that HED Secretary had no authority to change the post of political science into commerce.
