Contract for new grain market awarded

HAFIZABAD - The government has released Rs608 million for the development of new grain market on Madhrianwala Road. The market committee had acquired 20 acres of land on Madhrianwala Road about 12 years back for establishing grain market and to shift the existing two grain markets from the congested area of the city. The plan remained in the doldrums due to here one or other reason. The tender for development works was opened under the supervision of District Officer Works and Services Mehrajul Islam in the presence of DO Budget Raiz Basit Ghani, DO Planning Mubasharul Hussan, Secretary Market Committee Nasrullah and media men here on Monday. Four firms participated in the bidding and the contract was awarded to the highest bidder. On the occasion, the DO Works said that the work on the plan would be started shortly and the longstanding problem of the citizens (shifting of grain markets) from the congested area of the city would be resolved.
