ISLAMABAD - A serious scuffle broke out between two rival groups of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) minutes before the scheduled news conference of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, where former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Pervez Khattak was supposed to announce his joining the party, here at the partys central secretariat. The secretariat turned into a battlefield where over a hundred fighting activists of PTI freely used chairs, sticks and punches to hit each others opponents leaving several injured on the spot. The brawl that lasted for well over two hours with short breaks started when a protesting group under the head of PTI Deputy President in Nowshera Sajid Gumaryani, who has already resigned against the inclusion of Pervez Khattak in PTI, shouted slogans against Khattak outside the secretariat building. The criticism charged Pervez Khattak supporters who were present inside the secretariat building and both the groups engaged scuffle in a tug of war. Later, the situation aggravated when charged fighters exchanged abusive words and started kicking and punching each other. During the fight, they ransacked the sitting arrangements for the news conference pushing the organizers to call off the Imran Khans press talk and joining ceremony of Khattak. There was a major anger among the PTI office bearers from Nowshera over the joining of former Irrigation Minister Pervez Khattak into the party. The party leadership in Nowshera has already termed this decision as questionable and had announced a protest outside the partys central secretariat during the joining ceremony. During a press conference the other day, Sajid Gumaryani had levelled charges of corruption of serious nature on Pervez Khattak and had resigned from the office of PTI deputy president from Nowshera. PTI Chairman Imran Khan has constituted a fact-finding committee over the issue. Later, addressing a press conference here at the residence of Air Marshal (retd) Asghar Khan, Imran tendered his apologies over the issue and assured that he would take notice of the issue. However, supporting the decision of inclusion of Pervez Khattak in PTI he categorically stated that he better knew how to build a winning team.
