KARACHI - The dollar value increased against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said Monday. It started the days trading at Rs 89.07 for buying, gained seven paisas and closed at Rs 89.14 for buying and Rs 89.19 for selling. The European currency recorded loss in its value against the rupee as it began the days trading at Rs 118.81 for buying, lost 58 paisas and closed at Rs 118.23 for buying and Rs 118.43 for selling. The pound sterling lost strength against the rupee, it initiated the days trading at Rs 139.14 for buying, shed 57 paisas and closed at Rs 138.57 for buying and Rs 138.77 for selling. In open market, the dollar remained constant against rupee on the first day of week, dealers said. It started the days trading at Rs 88.85 for buying and without any variation closed at the same rate for buying and Rs 89.35 for selling. The Euro witnessed loss against local currency as it initiated the days trading at Rs 118.6, fell Rs 1.1 and closed at Rs 117.5 for buying and Rs 119 for selling. The British currency lost its strength against the rupee, it began the days trading at Rs 138.8 for buying, depreciated 80 paisas and closed at Rs 138 for buying and Rs 139.6 for selling.
