RCCI to hold 10 single country exhibitions in 2012

RAWALPINDI  - Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has planned to organize 10 single countries Expos in six different countries including SAARC region in 2012 to gear up the exports and strengthen national economy.
Talking to APP President RCCI Jawed Akhtar Bhatti demanded the government to facilitate the business community in the regard. He said that a five-day second single country expo 2012 will be kicked off from May 23 in Dhaka, Bangladesh which will be participated by 70 companies and 200 trade delegations and more than 70 stalls would be set up. He further said that basic purpose behind organizing the Expos is to promote local goods in the other countries and their trade market.
Jawed Bhatti said that the Expo in Bangladesh is being organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber from its own resources. He said that RCCI is fully aware of the importance of promotion of trade activities in the SAARC region.
He said that share of trade volume among the SAARC countries is around five per cent which is very low and our utmost efforts is to enhance the business activities with the said states. He said, the single country exhibitions 'Made in Pakistan' are being held to boost trade ties with different countries as promotion of trade relations with other countries is need of the hour.
President RCCI said that there is huge demand of Pakistani products in Bangladesh and a single country exhibition had already been held in the country which remained very successful. Both the countries can enhance the volume of bilateral trade to a considerable level for which efforts are being made. He stressed the need for formulating a long term policy to boost bilateral trade with Bangladesh so that the set goals could be achieved.
The first exhibition 'Made in Pakistan' had not only helped in evaluating demand and supply of Pakistani products but also promoted direct link between the business communities of both the countries, he said.
He informed that the government would set up a Gems and Jewellery Center in Rawalpindi region to promote the gems industry.
He said Rawalpindi Chamber is trying to play a pivotal role for the economic uplift of the country.
Jawed Bhatti said that RCCI is making all out efforts for the development of trading activities in the SAARC Region.
