Democracy is the reigning coin in the world today. It is rated as the best system of governance although not the best. However the Islamic precept is different from the rule of majority. Hence every ugly thing about the rule of majority achieved by a privileged group attained by any means fair or foul is attributed to beauty of democracy which can even throw up a ruler worst of us especially in a country where the most members of people in the society are illiterate and ignorant what to say of corrupt. Hence a significant verse 116 of Surah 6-(Al’anam) of Holy Quran clearly says that “And if thou obey the majority of those on earth, they would lead thee astray from Allah’s way. They follow nothing but mere conjecture, and they do nothing but lie.” Now instead of following blindly the west we ought to find our way in the light of Quranic Injunction which does not approve simple rule of majority which has led us to wander in misdirection when even a person like Mr. Zardari is catapulted to the post of President of Pakistan by dint of majority of people voting for him. This system is based on simple lies and as a rule can never succeed. This is a point for consideration.
