LAHORE - The Judicial Commission of Pakistan unanimously approved the confirmation of four additional judges of Sindh High Court and denied retaining two other additional judges because of their unsatisfactory performance.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the JCP under the chair of Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani held at Supreme Court Lahore Registry on Thursday. The commission took up the cases of Justice Farooq Ali Channa, Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah, Justice Azizur Rehman, Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, and Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar. The present members of the JC gave consent to the confirmation of four out of six additional judges, said the sources. However, the performance of two judges Farooq Ali Channa and Justice Riazat Ali Sahar was discussed as unsatisfactory. The JC, therefore, turned down the confirmation of both additional judges.
Justice Channa was elevated from district judiciary of Sindh while Justice Sahar was from the bar.
