Shahbaz vows timely completion of all energy projects

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the provincial government would set up a solar power project of 1,000 mw at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park with its own resources while a 100 megawatts project would be completed by the end of the current year.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting here on Thursday which reviewed the pace of solar project at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur. He said the federal and provincial departments concerned should work with close coordination for completing solar and other energy projects within stipulated period, and work on these projects be carried out expeditiously so that energy crisis could be overcome as early as possible.
He said that no delay would be tolerated in the completion of the projects within the timeframe.
The CM strongly reprimanded the high-ups of the departments concerned for not following the timeline regarding laying of transmission line for the solar power project, and said they were duty bound to discharge the important national responsibility of implementation of energy projects in an efficient manner. He said that delay or laxity in this regard was totally unacceptable.
He said that the institutions concerned should realise their responsibility and solar power project be completed on fast track basis instead of traditional manner. He said that the officers, who were indifferent to the problems of the masses or failed to come up to their expectations, had no right to stay on their posts. He said that no compromise would be made on timeline with regard to laying of transmission line for the supply of electricity from the solar project and the departments concerned would have to be completed the work within the timeframe.
Shahbaz Sharif said there was no shortage of resources with regard to timely completion of power projects and the government had provided sufficient funds for this purpose while this process would continue in future as well.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that no stone would be left unturned as far as development projects for public welfare  are concerned. He went on to say that the government is committed to carry out development project in time.
He directed the federal and provincial institutions should maintain a close coordination and spare no effort for achieving the targets fixed for expeditious implementation of the project. He said that he wanted results as he was answerable to the masses. He said the departments concerned would have to play a proactive role and complete energy projects within stipulated period so as to come up to the expectations of the people.
Federal Secretary Water and Power Nargis Sethi said that every effort would be made in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to complete the work regarding supply system of electricity from the solar project, laying of transmission line and dealing with other issues within the timeframe and a report would be submitted to him in this regard within next few days.
Special Assistant Azm-ul-Haq, Chief Secretary, Federal Secretary Water & Power, Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, President Bank of Punjab, NEPRA, NTDC, MEPCO and officers of other concerned departments attended the meeting.
