Ski Federation striving hard for the restoration of Malam Jabba Ski resort

MALAM JABBA- Ski Federation of Pakistan is working hard for the restoration of the captivating Malam Jabba Ski Resort at Swat.

Talks between the Provincial Government and PAF are underway for development of ski slope by SFP and PAF. SFP has already made an experienced committee to oversee the development of modern ski infrastructure at Malam Jabba, Swat. With the Provincial Government’s support, SFP would be able to boost its ventures in the area and conduct FIS (International Ski Federation) accredited races at the resort.

Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who is also the Patron-in-Chief of SFP, is taking personal interest in the project as he feels that it would boost the tourism industry and improve the socio-economic condition of the area. To revive the snow sports at Swat valley, a five day Swat Snow Festival was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Khayber Pakhtunkhwa.

Air Marshal Athar Hussain Bukhari, President Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) has assured of all administrative and technical support by SFP for conduct of the Festival. SFP has also provided Ski equipment/gear for this festival. Muhammad Abbas, the first winter Olympian of Pakistan, and Muhammad Karim who represented Pakistan in Winter Olympics 2014 are also present at the festival and they would be interacting with the local youth with an aim to motivate them for taking up skiing as a professional sport.
