CJP dismisses contempt case plea against Sharifs

A petition has been moved by Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for contempt of court.

It is stated in a petition that speeches of Nawaz Sharif and his other family members against Judiciary should be taken into notice. Petitioner said that Sharif has remained derisive not only against the judiciary but also against the members of JIT (Joint Investigation Team).

Chief Justice, Saqib Nisar, heading the three member bench said that former PM has shown his outburst against the investigation team. So, it cannot be considered as ‘Contempt of Court’. CJP also said that he will hear the case about inappropriate remarks against court on the right time.     

Other contempt related petitions against different politicians including PTI leader Firdous Ashiq awan, PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gillani, federal minister Saad Rafique, former chairman Senate Nayyer Bokhari and Captain Safdar (retired).
