SHC rejects bail of 15, including a woman  in housing society fraud case 

KARACHI   -  The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday dismissed the bail plea of 15 accused including a woman in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference pertaining to corruption in State Bank of Pakistan’s Housing Society. The high court bench ruled on the bail application of the accused including Roshan Ara, Abdullah Nasir Faizan, Syed Amir, Muhammad Khurram, Ejaz Hussainullah Bachayo, and Nazir, while the court granted bail to three other accused including Ghulam Haider Chandio, Usman and Hussain Ali. According to the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) prosecution, it had arrested two accused Khurram and Nasir. The accused committed corruption of millions of rupees in the name of the society, NAB said. The NAB prosecutor said that reference has been filed against the accused. The court remarked that NAB presented concrete evidence against the accused. “In the light of the evidence, the accused were not eligible to bail,” the court said. The court ordered to send the accused to jail after arresting them. The NAB prosecutor informed the court that housing society has nothing to do with SBP. The accused seized 125 acres by the forgery, the investigating officer said. He said more than Rs37 crore of amounts was defrauded from the people. Society was formed by occupying Nullah lands, Investigating Officer said.
