Musharraf's case to be heard on daily basis: IHC

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to conduct hearing of petitions filed against the decision of Special Court (SC) in treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on day to day basis.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah took up the petitions filed against the decision of SC for hearing Wednesday.

Taufiq Asif, advocate Syed Iftikhar Gillani, advocate Khawaja Haris, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Usman Karim Kundi and advocate Chaudhry Faisal Hussain counsel for former president Pervez Musharraf appeared in the court.

Advocate Taufiq Asif requested the court that larger bench be constituted to hear this case.

Counsel for Pervez Musharraf ,while opposing this plea, said that a single bench can hear the petitions against SC decisions because this has been done in the past.

Syed Iftikhar Gillani, counsel for former chief justice of Pakistan Abdul Hamid Dogar said he has no objection over hearing of the case by single bench.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked “ the court is bound to give decision in this case within one month in the light of directives of Supreme Court. Therefore no other option is left with the court.

The court while ordering for hearing the parties concerned on day to day basis separately adjourned the hearing of the case till May, 19.
