ISLAMABAD - The split in PDM’s ranks has proved a temporary sigh of relief for the ruling party as its own coalition partners will soon show teeth on multiple issues.

The past political history reveals that the coalition partners never shy to share set of demands with ruling party in a testing time. Both the main parliamentary opposition parties [PML-N and PPP] were number of times seen compelled to accommodate its allies in a tough situation.

These main parties had to accommodate its allies in terms of awarding ministerial slots, chairmanship of standing committee and other advantages.

The tough situation for incumbent government is also not too far, as too many fronts will open soon after Eidul Fitar.

The opposition will not miss any chance to give tough time to the government in the budget session. The government side has to ensure support of the allies in the parliament.

The numerical strength with support of coalition partners will help the ruling party to get the budget 2021-22 passed by Parliament, which is third financial budget of PTI’s government.

Ruling party will need coalition partners’ support for budget 2021-22 approval

It merits mentioning here that an important coalition partner from Balochistan (BNP-Mengal) had parted ways with government. They had expressed reservations with ruling party over the issues relating to Balochistan.

Political pundits believed that government will face a couple of issues in the end of this month.

The current government, already facing severe criticism over the availability of coronavirus vaccine to all, will be criticised for not controlling inflation in the country. The issue would be the main topic of the discussion in the budget session.

The coalition partners including MQM-P, PML-Q and GDA will hold important meetings with government to express their reservations on multiple issues.

The PTI, according to its plan, wants to take important step about Southern Punjab province. It has to take its coalition partner PML-Q into confidence which had already expressed reservations on it.

The issue of Jahangir Khan Tareen could also emerge in the coming days, as dozen of Southern Punjab MPs have recently shown their tacit protest.

The prime minister has to tactfully deal with these clique of Southern Punjab area in near future. MQM-P, on the occasion of PM’s vote of confidence, had assured its support on condition of addressing their reservations and especially controlling inflation in the country. The Sindh-based allied partner has severe reservations on the results of seventh population census.

They had also complaint about non-cooperation of the government in the missing persons (Party workers) issue. Background discussion with MPs revealed that MQP-P will share set of demands with the ruling party in the end of this month.

The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) is also set to hold important meeting with the senior members of the ruling party about its issues.

It would not be out of place to mention here that the ruling party has to address reservations of its allies in a fortnight period. This would also help it to jointly work for legislation on electoral reforms. The parliamentary party on electoral reforms can ensure fruitful results only with the cooperation of the government and the opposition parties in the parliament.

On the other hand, opposition parties are set to create hindrance in proceedings of the National Assembly on multiple issues. The joint opposition has recently threatened an anti-government move and disruption during proceedings of the National Assembly.  The opposition would strongly raise matter related to barring Shehbaz Sharif from going abroad.

 

 The PDM can be seen united on issue of Shehbaz Sharif in the coming National Assembly session.
