Lahore to be bifurcated into two districts, says Punjab CM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a high-level meeting in the Chief Minister Office here on Tuesday. 

The meeting mulled over different proposals to bifurcate Lahore in two districts on administrative grounds. The Senior Member Board of Revenue presented proposals in this regard. The Chief Minister was told in a briefing that administrative bifurcation of the city would necessitate the creation of new tehsils in Lahore. Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue and Principal Secretary to CM were in attendance. 

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the city of Lahore was becoming overpopulated and its bifurcation in two districts on administrative grounds was the need of the hour. However, he added, the final decision would be made after political consensus. The Chief Minister directed to present final proposals in this regard along with a new map indicating all areas of Lahore. 

Establishment of public schools of excellence in 

Koh-e-Suleman gets CM’s nod

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday presided over a high-level meeting which accorded approval to establishment of schools of excellence in Koh-e-Suleman, a tribal area of DG Khan.

The meeting deliberated on proposals to set up public schools of excellence for boys and girls in the tribal area. 

The Chief Minister  directed to finalise the proposals of establishing Kohi Suleman’s public school of excellence and to prepare a workable model and ask the infrastructure development authority Punjab to prepare the master plans of the schools. The CM said that the Punjab government was providing quality education to students of far-flung areas having limited resources and also establishing quality schools in difficult terrains. He said it would be a beneficial investment on the new generation as it would help to discourage the trends of extremism in tribal areas. Usman Buzdar said that education was the most effective weapon to fight extremism and ignorance. 

The CM further said that the sphere of public schools of excellence would also be extended to Cholistan and Thal areas as admission from Class-1 to Class-12 would be given to boys and girls students in those schools. A board of governors would be constituted to run the affairs of the public schools of excellence, he added. The meeting also reviewed different suggestions and proposals for establishing public schools of excellence. Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Principal Secretary to CM, secretaries of Finance, School Education, Communication & Works, Primary and Secondary Health, Transport, School Education-South Punjab and Chief Executive Officer Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab and other officials also attended the meeting.

FOUNDER OF SAYLANI WELFARE TRUST CALLS ON CM

A delegation led by the founder of Saylani Welfare Trust Moulana Bashir Farooqui called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in his office here on Tuesday. 

During the meeting, matters relating to the welfare of deprived segments of the society, setting up of almonries and Panagahs were discussed. Talking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that Punjab government was giving special focus for the welfare of the weak segments and almonries along with ‘panagahs’ were being extended in far-flung areas of Punjab to help the poor and helpless people. The CM said that establishment of almonries and panagahs was a big step towards the establishment of a welfare state. “By giving services to humanity, all of us benefit not only in this world but also thereafter,” he said. The CM appreciated the welfare work of the Saylani Trust and vowed to continue extending cooperation with them. The delegation was composed of AfRANAl Chambria, Mian Athar and Mohammad Junaid while the provincial secretary of social welfare was also present on this occasion.

MNA Sanaullah Mastikhel calls on CM 

Member National Assembly Muhammad Sanaullah Mastikhel MNA called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday and apprised him about the problems of his constituency. 

The CM assured to resolve the issues and pointed out that development work had been started in various constituencies according to parliamentarians’ priorities. “Public service is my core agenda. On the other hand, the unscrupulous elements in PDM are promoting their negative politics. Those involved in negative politics have lost their credibility because people demand development and prosperity in their areas,” he stated. 

He said that the unnatural umbrella alliance of the opposition parties had ignored national interest and, regrettably, left no stone unturned to put the national interest at stake. 

 

CM directs constitution of anti-beggary squad

 Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed to constitute a special anti-beggary squad to nab the professional beggars in different zones in phases. 

While presiding over a meeting to review the performance of the social welfare department and steps aimed at the welfare of the indigent strata, the Chief Minister directed to devise a comprehensive skills development program to alleviate poverty. He further directed sensitising the people about the institutions providing welfare related services along with setting up a helpline. A community welfare centre will be established in Lahore for making transgenders a useful organ of society, he disclosed. The elderly occupants of old-age homes should be regularly checked, the CM further told and announced that new shelter homes would be functional in Gujranwala, Multan, Pakpatton and Jhang while children homes will be established in Attock and Toba Tek Singh for the lost and abandoned children. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art centre for the treatment of addicts will be set up, he said. The addicts will be provided technical and vocational training to earn their livelihood. Earlier, the secretary social welfare department briefed the CM about departmental performance. SACM Hasaan Khawar, Commissioner and DC Lahore, DG social welfare and others also attended the meeting.

CM CONDOLES LOSS OF LIVES IN A ROAD ACCIDENT

 

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the death of children in a road accident near Gojra and extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs. The CM has directed the administration to provide the best treatment facilities to the injured children and action be initiated against the driver responsible for the accident. 

CM MESSAGE ON INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR NATURAL DISASTER REDUCTION

 

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in his message on International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction has said that by using the latest scientific technology damages caused by natural disasters could be reduced and the present government has strengthened disaster management authority for relief work and to minimise the losses in case of natural disasters. The CM has said that protection of the lives of people during natural calamities was the prime responsibility of the state and awareness campaigns in the general public in an effective manner was a prerequisite as the prompt response mechanism helps to control the damages in such circumstances. The CM said in order to overcome the natural disasters, training programmes on modern lines and use of technology was a  pre-requisite, he added.
