Pakistan, Iran agree to move for prisoners swapping

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and Iran on Tuesday agreed to form a special committee for effective implementation on agreement of exchange of prisoners between the two countries.

The agreement came in a meeting of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad with members of Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Majlis (Iranian Parliament).

Earlier, the Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani met with the interior minister here at the Ministry of Interior on the second day of their visit to Islamabad.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and overall situation of the region, according to a statement issue by the Ministry of Interior. Both sides discussed suggestions to overcome terrorism and human trafficking.  Both sides also agreed that Pakistan and Iran would continue with their efforts for formation of stable government in Afghanistan and for attaining long-lasting peace in the war-torn country. 

The meeting also stressed to enhance coordination between parliamentarians of both countries.  The interior minister said that the government appreciated stance of Tehran on Kashmir and Palestine issues. He assured the delegation that travelling and immigration facilities would be improved for pilgrims travelling to Iran.   

The head of the delegation Amirabadi Farahani expressed his condolences over the loss of precious lives in the earthquake that hit different parts of Balochistan.
