Man hacks two daughters to death

KHANEWAL - A man allegedly hacked his two daughters to death and threw pieces of their bodies into River Ravi ‘in the name of honour’, three days ago.
The ‘savage man’ executed the crime with the connivance of maternal grandfather of the slain girls in Mauza Jarahi Chah Boperian Khayran, suburban area of Talumaba, in Tehsil Mian Channu of district Khanewal.
According to the police, Rab Nawaz, father of the ill-fated girls, along with Murad Ali, their maternal father, allegedly slaughtered 15-year-old Robina and 10-year-old Parveen with a sharp-edged knife, some three days ago. “They commissioned the crime in the ‘name of honour’ as they suspected the girls to have developed illicit relations,” the police informed. They said the accused allegedly ‘chopped off’ the dead bodies and threw ‘the pieces’ into River Ravi.
When Muhammad Ramzan, brother of the girls living in Lahore due to his job, came to know about the incident, he returned from Lahore. He informed the police and the police arrested maternal grandfather of the slain girls. “Murad Ali during interrogation confessed to the crime and divulged how they slaughtered the girls,” Station House Officer (SHO) Mian Ajaz Kamboh said. He added that search for the key suspect is underway.
He said that the police have started search in River Ravi to fish out the dead bodies.
DSP Main Channu Tahir Majeed suspected that ‘apparently’ it seems there are [some more] people involved in the crime. “One of the slain girls - Robina was married and her husband is nowhere in the scene,” he pointed out, adding that the police have launched a thorough investigation to “unfold the mystery surrounding the murders.”
