BoK management tenders apology to KP finance minister

PESHAWAR - The management of the Bank of Khyber (Bok) has formally tendered apology to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Said Advocate over the allegations it levelled against him through a paid advertisement appeared in local and national press few months ago.

The deadlock between KP Finance Minister Muzaffar Said and MD BoK Shamsul Qayyum remained for about seven months, however, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak intervened and reconciled between them.

The latter was however bound to publish another advertisement apologizing to the KP Finance Minister.

Thus, another advertisement was published in the press a day ago on behalf of the BoK management which stated that the KP Finance Minister Muzaffar Said Advocate is a righteous and honest person.

The BoK management tendered apology to Muzaffar Said and all others who were defamed by the allegations.

It merits recalling here that the bank management had charge sheeted the finance minister, who belongs to the coalition partner Jamaat-e-Islami, of interfering in bank affairs and forcing the management to induct his blue-eyed persons.

The KP Finance Minister Muzaffar Said and his party leadership had asked the CM Pervez Khattak to remove Shamsul Qayum from the post. He, however, constituted a committee to probe the matter. He also continued efforts to reconcile the matter between the two parties and finally managed to settle the dispute.

Meanwhile, JI has termed the publication of the advertisement of apology by the BoK management as their victory. After the reconciliation, the situation is now normal, and afterwards both Muzaffar Said and Shamsul Qayyum have also held a joint meeting in the presence of CM Pervez Khattak and Chief Secretary Amjid Ali Khan.
