LAHORE - Nouman Khan and Faizan Ali won the 17th National Junior Squash Championship 2022 titles after winning the U13 and U11 titles respectively here at Punjab Squash Complex on Monday.
Interestingly, both the winners were from Punjab. In U13 final, Nouman outpaced Ahmad Rehan by 3-1. Nouman had to face tough resistance from Ahmed before winning the first game 15-13 but making a strong comeback to win the next three in a row 11-9, 11-7 and 11-6 to clinch the title. The U11 title was claimed by Faizan Ali, who outclassed Syed Hussain 2-0. Faizan won the first game 12-10 and second by 11-6.
CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar graced the concluding ceremony as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Tournament Director Mamoon Khan, PSA officials, players and squash enthusiasts were also present on the occasion. The chief guest lauded PSA President Noor-ul-Amin Mengal for promoting squash at grassroots level and praised Mamoon Khan for conducting junior squash events on regular basis, which will help Pakistan in the long run.
The chief guest said: “These kids are our future stars and such opportunities will surely help them further excel at higher level and win laurels for the country at national and international level.” He also revealed that they have arranged foolproof security for England cricket team, which is arriving soon and will play seven T20I in Karachi and Lahore.
“As the English team has been given state guests level security and a special route will be designed for them to make their visit memorable and remarkable. We will also try to facilitate the locals and hopefully, there will be no hurdles for them during their movement towards their offices and homes. It is also quite hearting that New Zealand Security delegation has also visited the venue and expressed their satisfaction regarding security arrangements and they too will be provided the best security,” the CCPO Lahore added.
