SHEIKHUPURA - All the political parties in the district have finalised their candidates for the five National Assembly constituencies - NA-131, NA-132, NA-133, NA-134 and NA-135.
For NA-131, the PPP has fielded Usman Nisar Pannu as its candidate. He is son of late Nisar Pannu Advocate who was elected in 2002 election as MNA.
 The PML-N has given the ticket to Rana Afzaal Hussain, a former MNA elected in 2008 election, for the constituency.
Likewise, the PTI has awarded the ticket to Brig (r) Rahat Amanullah. He is new comer in the political arena. The PML-Q has put in the race Amina Zulfiqar Dhillun, daughter of former MNA Zulfiqar Dhillun late who was elected in 2004 on PML-Q ticket after defeating Rana Tanveer Hussain of the PML-N.
In NA-132, the PML-N has awarded ticket to former MNA Rana Tanveer Hussain while PPP has put its candidate Ghayur Bukhari who was defeated in 2008 election by PML-N’s Rana Tanveer Hussain.
The PTI has changed its candidate replacing Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharaqpuri with Ayaz Sarfraz while the PML-Q has decided to support PPP candidate Gayur Bukhari.
In NA-133, the PML-N has nominated its former MNA Mian Javed Latif who was its candidate for 2013 elections as well.
On the other hand, the PTI has given the ticket to a new comer, Abu Bakar Mushtaq Virk, while the PPP had awarded ticket to Ch Altaf Hussain Virk who faced a defeat from PPP-167 in 2004 and 2008 elections.
Former PML-Q MNA Saeed Virk who was elected in 2004 and former PML-N MPA Haji Nawaz who was also elected in 2004 elections will contest the upcoming elections independently for NA-133 seat. Mr Saeed claimed that when he joined the PTI, he was assured by the leadership of being awarded the party ticket for NA-133 but he was not given the ticket.
Thus, he decided to contest the election as independent candidate. Similarly, Haji Nawaz was also denied a ticket therefore he will contest independently.
In NA-134, Khurram Munawar Manj, former MNA elected in 2004 election on PPP ticket and later joined the PML-Q, would be the Q’s candidate. He would also be supported by PPP under the seat adjustment deal. On the other side, Shafaqat has been awarded a ticket by the PTI. He is newcomer in political field. Sardar Irfan Dogar, fomer MNA of PML-N elected in 2008, would be the party candidate anew.
In NA-135, the PML-N former MNA Barjees Tahir would be its candidate while the PPP has changed its candidate and given the party ticket to Mian Shamim Haider instead of Rai Ejaz Ahmad while the PTI’s ticket-holder is Arshad Sahi, former tehsil nazim of Shah Kot.
 All the candidates have started their election campaigns and are trying to convince the voters with different arguments to vote for them.
