Islamabad - Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said if integrity of Saudi Arabia and sanctity of Harmain Shareefain was threatened, not only army but every Pakistani would stand by them.
Talking to a news channel, he said army and all citizens were committed to protect integrity of Saudi Arabia and sanctity of Harmain Shareefain. The resolution of Parliament also reaffirmed this, he added.
He said the Yemeni government, which had a legal status, should be restored. An elected government in Yemen was overthrown by the Hothis, which was an illegal act, he added. He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif also stressed on the restoration of Yemen’s elected government and that if there was any danger to the integrity of Saudi Arabia the entire Pakistani nation would stand shoulder to shoulder with them. The minister said, “Yemen’s conflict is a serious matter and we are taking steps for its resolution in consultation with all the political parties. The Prime Minister has shown commitment on the issue.”
He said,”All Muslims pray with their face towards Harmain Shareefain and get satisfaction of their heart from it.” Any attack on the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia would evoke a strong response from Pakistan, he added. The minister said Pakistan had been playing its role for resolving the conflict in Yemen.
The minister said talks held with Iran and Turkey were part of the record and a clear stance was taken during these negotiations.
Senator Pervaiz said these were benefits of democracy that all political parties, institutions and citizens think alike on matters of national interest.
